I am an eclectic healer, utilizing my training in Somatic Experiencing along with Land Relations (“ecotherapy”), Ancestral Skills, Dreamwork, Ancestral Recovery/Deassimilation, Ritual Guidance, Divination, Movement Therapy, Breathwork and Cranio-Sacral Therapy/Somatic Touch. One can request any of these alone, i.e. a card reading or Breathwork session, or general Somatic sessions which could involve any of the above. In person sessions are available and usually done in a natural setting or dance studio. Online sessions are also available for everything not involving touch. My work centers trauma healing and deepening with Spirit, Ritual and Nature Connection. I center those with marginalized identities, and Neurodiversity is my speciality. My life's work is to help Neurodistinct people to come into acceptance, appreciation and pride for their differences and gifts, as well as healing the traumas associated with living as Neuroemergent people in a Neurotypical society.
I also have a desire to work with clients who are Jewish, utilizing Jewish ancestral practices in healing our traumas and deepening with our spiritual practices in an Earth-Based way. (I am Jewish and practice in the Renewal tradition, my Jewish practices are Earth-Based and queer centered).
Over all, I center marginalized people in my work, seeking to always take into account systemic injustice and Neurodiversity which has unfortunately not always been included in the inception of these modalities.
Here is a breakdown of the different modalities I work in even though they usually blend and overlap.
Somatic Experiencing: A modality of trauma healing based on the study of innate mammalian processes of resolving trauma through the body. Working with body sensations and movement (among many other things) which facilitate resolution of trauma through completion of unfinished trauma responses which we might be stuck in. Somatic experiencing has extensively proven efficacy. At the same time, in it’s mainstream manifestations it has often failed to take into account factors such as neurodiversity and systemic conditions of harm. Which is why I seek to incorporate those as well as working in dreaming and spiritual levels of reality, working with Ancestors and the Land as the ultimate source of boundless healing, attatchment, and co-regulation. In my in-person outdoor sessions we may also work with so-called bushcraft skills as part of an ongoing somatic co-regulation with the Living Land.
Neurodiversity Consultation: For Practitioners and Community
This is open to anyone: Neurodivergent people who are seeking more self acceptance and guidance around their neurology and navigating difficulties, including those who are questioning if they are Neurodivergent. It's also open to Neurotypical people who want to learn to be better allies, and practitioners of any kind who are looking to better serve their Neurodivergent clients outside of a pathology paradigm. I teach classes about Neurodiversity Acceptance and am available for panel discussions and other group engagements as well.
Breathwork: This type of Breathwork is most akin to holotropic methods (terminology coined by Stanislav Grof but has roots in a variety of Eastern practices). This is a breath practice which can induce visionary states, trauma healing and emotional release. I have found it to be ecstatic and transformative beyond belief and encourage my somatic clients to incorporate it in their trauma healing journey. Sessions are 1on1. In the near future I plan to host Breathwork groups, many of which will center queer people. So look out for those!
Bodywork/touchwork: I am a deep tissue massage therapist, trained in Craino-Sacral Therapy and Somatic touch. The latter two are light touch modalities that facilitate stress release and a transition to a more ideal therapeutic state. Craino-sacral Therapy also helps to regulate the flow of cerebrospinal fluid in a way that affects the functioning of other body systems in a therapeutic way. These are in person only with Covid precautions. More details upon request!
Ancestral Healing and Recovery Deassimilation: Working with ancestral patterns, historical trauma and in general, deepening relationships with ancestors. Dreaming into the ancestral realms with a somatic, embodied approach. Learning about the spiritual practices of our ancestors and developing/recovering ritual practice appropriate to our ancestry. We may discuss practices which are well documented but also be open to recovery of culture through dreamwork and direct communication with spirits and ancestors.
*My methods have no connection to popular and well known methods of ancestral healing that you might have heard of, they come from my lived experience and work in the dreaming realms, as well as my lifelong special interest in ancient history and story cycles and penchant for remembering lots of random details. I am the proverbial walking encyclopedia, so while I specialize in Slavic and Jewish cultures, my base of knowledge is much broader, including having a background in Paleo-Anthropology.
Spiritual Mentorship and Ritual Planning: I can help you deepen into direct experience of Spiritual Realities, even if you don’t feel you have innate perception that way. Also guide people in refining the practices themselves, i.e, altar work, trance work, observing traditional seasonal holidays, being in right relationship with the Dead, understanding ancestral cosmologies and so much more. In addition to working within our ancestral traditions, I find that we can also encounter beings and godforms which don’t fit neatly into a known cultural context. Sometimes these are the most powerful relationships! Additionally, I’ve organized many Birth Blessings, Seasonal Rituals, B’nai Mitzvot, and can help you design structured rituals for almost any purpose.
Dreamwork: Honestly this is present in every facet of everything I do. I work in the Dreaming levels of reality, known to many as the Unconscious or Collective Unconscious. I think these terms are trivializing, giving the idea that these are brain processes involving cognitive projections of the psyche. To me these beings and realms are very real and I work as such. Through working in Dreaming Realms, we come into contact with the mysterious, the mystical, that which defies colonial notions of reality. Yet are very real structures within traditional cosmologies the world over. Through Dreaming we access the places where we are interrelated with all life, the “past” and “future”, corporeal and non-corporeal beings, the enspirited nature of all things. Which lives in our bodies. This could mean working with sleeping dreams and so-called imaginal states as well as developing physical rituals and practices which are relational and keep us in good relation with the underlying forces of life.
*I do not work in a Jungian style, Jung was just one person with one approach, who, let's be honest, borrowed from many traditional cultures and received most of the credit. I work in a style that is my own and comes from my lived experience.
Readings: I use a variety of (non-tarot) oracular methods including various card systems, Taseomancy (tea leaf reading), the Hebrew alphabet and Norse Runes(my ancestry is Jewish, Slavic and Norse). From these readings I help people to develop strategies for somatic and spiritual practice if that's what they desire. A reading is very much like a somatic session that is guided by the cards/runes.
Movement Therapies: Working dreams and somatic processes through dance and movement for all bodies. If you see me in person, much more is possible in terms of whole body movement but since the pandemic I’ve been able to work much of this in online sessions as well. Also as a body-worker, I use my knowledge of anatomy and physiology to work into physical pain and limitation with movement and assisted stretching, as well as somatic coaching.
***Is this a good fit for you? I'll be honest, I am extremely Neuroqueer and need my clients to be open to Neurodiversity acceptance even if they aren't seeing me for such. I also need you to be willing to use my correct pronouns (they/them) and be proactively Anti-Oppression. That means seeking to deconstruct oppressive norms around mental health, gender, race, ability, class and much more. By proactively I mean seeking to, and not having had achieved some echelon of perfection which none of us can claim to have reached in current cultural contexts. Also: I work best with those who have some acceptance of spiritual realities, although those who have skepticism but are still open to such things and want to learn more are potentially a great fit. Because of How I Am, spiritual perception is inextricable from my daily life and worldview, so those who are down with the woo would probably be happiest with me, and if you only believe in material consensus reality I will likely not please you. If that sounds good to you, let me know you have read this and let's talk!
